Why You Should Perfect Your English and Why Here

What seems to be several lifetimes ago, I was in high school and I was studying Spanish as a second language. Back then, I was learning the input method, which is literally just picking up a book reading it and studying it with my teacher with classmates. Well that was good, I really don’t remember the books that well, but what I do remember, is the output way of learning which was listening to the teacher, giving the pronunciation correctly, then speaking what I had learned. This is the way that we all learned even from childhood. Listening to our family, getting the words, understanding the pronunciation, repeating what we’ve heard until we got it, then we move on.

My understanding of input learning, is to pick up a book, read it and understand it mentally. However, learning any language should be the output method, which is learning to listen, to understand, and to reply correctly. Your involvement in the language is how you communicate with anyone and everyone with that language. This is how and why I teach the way that I do, the output method. I have had many successes with it, and this is the way and why I love teaching.

I’ve taught in many schools in the United States and Mexico which all use the input method, which is through books mostly, but the classes that I really really enjoyed where those classes where the students participated mostly freely. However, I’m not talking about me only, I’m talking about how the students learned and how they actually communicated with me in English. Their enjoyment and learning came from speaking English and learning how and what to say and when to say it. So literally, my enjoyment came and still comes from seeing and hearing my students being able to communicate with me at a native English level.

This is also the reason why P and C teaches only advanced level English. I have met, throughout my experiences, many people who have moved to the United States or even other English speaking countries, only to return to their home country, and start teaching English. Usually their level of English is beginning, and or intermediate level and if you’re lucky, a high intermediate level. I have met people who have taken lessons from… I’m not going to say what school, but they got teaching certificates from a particular school, but they don’t have the ability to understand me when I speak Native American English. So, if you really want to learn to communicate with Native English speakers, particularly in my case, American English, and some of, let’s say British/Australian/Canadian, etc., studying here with me is one of your best options! If you have traveled abroad, you’ll know that many people know “some” English with their native language.

Studying online with me means that you can be at home, safe, and comfortable because I teach in a virtual classroom which you can see by looking on my website. I have an online whiteboard; I can send you classwork that we can use in your class that day, that information stays in the site so you can refer to it later. I try not to give homework, but on occasion there may be some, and if so it will be very little and or short. Also, all the classes are recorded and you can access the classes later, or at your will. Also, questions are permitted and almost required! Why? Because this is how you learn, by asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from your mistakes. This is how you and everyone grows.
