Pronounce Names Correctly

Were going to work on one (1) name today. It just happens to be one of my names – yes, many people in the native American culture have three names:

Their first name;

Their second name commonly called their middle name;

Their last name, also known as surname, or family name.

For this blog entry, I’m going to concentrate on my middle name, William.

I currently live in Mexico and some people will call me, “Williams”. To me, this is not agrevating, not really annoying either… it’s a little bothersome, but no more than that.

As I explain the differences:

Williams, with an “s” at the end, is a surname, a family name, such as;

Serena Williams
Robin Williams

The above have the same family name, Williams.

A little history about the name and how it came to be: https://blogs.ancestry.com/cm/williams-a-history-of-the-popular-american-surname/

However, since William is my middle name, it’s written and spoken without the “s”. Such as:

William Shakespeare
William Shatner – aka, Captain Kirk of Star Trek

Incidentally, my first name is Kirk. I don’t use it here in Mexico because I’d have to correct that pronunciation far too often.

In short, the pronunciation of the “I” and the “E” in Spanish…

Anyway, let’s wrap this up.

In short, English is… strange, but it is the language of international business and the common language of conversation. So in short – again, I’ve. even used some expressions in this blog which is typical to American English conversation. Hence the reason for a native American teacher.
